These properties, especially their reducedtendency to photobleach and the dependence of their fluorescencewavelength on their size, make them suitable for fluorescent probingapplications to detect cancer biomarkers [i]in vitro[/i] and [i]in vivo[/i]in cells/tissues/whole body. There is considerable interest amongresearchers due to the recent developments in QD technology. QDs havebeen encapsulated in amphiphilic polymers and bound to tumor-targetingligands and drug delivery vesicles for targeting, imaging and treatingtumor cells. Present efforts are focussed on exploring the massivemultiplexing capabilities of the QDs for the simultaneous detection ofmultiple cancer biomarkers in blood assays and cancer tissue biopsies.These advances in the QD technology have unravelled a great deal ofinformation about the molecular events in tumor cells and earlydiagnosis of cancer.ff6A.WlS;pP7Ir
