[font=Arial]Yin and co-workers have recently demonstrated the fabrication of colloidal photonic crystals with magnetically
tunable stop bands covering [color=red]the entire visible spectrum:o [/color]. In their report, uniform clusters of superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanocrystals were used as building blocks for crystallization in the presence of an external magnet. The stop band position could be successfully tuned from 400 to 750 nm as a function of the distance between an external magnet and the suspension containing the building blocks during their crystallization. The optical response of these photonic crystals relative to the external magnetic field was rapid and fully reversible.:victory: [/font]
