University of Fribourg gets $90 million gift mostly for nanotechnology

【NanoST news】Swiss industrialist Adolphe Merkle has given 100 million Swiss Francs (approx. $90 million) to the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, with the bulk of it to go for nanotechnology research. The money will fund a new multidisciplinary institute which will have a great degree of autonomy but will be attached to the university's faculty of science. It will operate on three levels: basic research at an international level, applied research in partnership with industry and short-term mandates for small and medium-sized businesses.9ub'dnMPj%]3p"F"n$N+|
