Job description: We currently have open postdoctoral fellow positions in the Infrared laboratory of the Physics Department of National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan. The projects will integrate Nanotechnology and Biotechnology as an interdisciplinary study on Nanobiotechnology. Efforts will focus on the preparation, characterization, manipulation and applications of target-specific nanodiamond-biomolecule/drug composites. The spectroscopy/optical properties of nanometer-sized diamond as well as the conjugation of bio-molecules on nanodiamonds surface and the interaction of the prepared composites with biological objects will be studied to promote the bio applications of nanodiamond.
The principal goal is to develop and characterize function-oriented covalent bonding methods for target-specific conjugation and immobilization of biomolecules/drugs on nanodiamond particles, and their applications in bio systems.
Experimental investigations will be performed using various spectroscopic tools such as FTIR, Raman, confocal fluorescence microscopy, surface tools such as SEM, TEM, AFM, SNOM, etc. In addition, Chemical methods for conjugation and biological investigations will also be carried out.
Required qualifications include a PhD in physics, chemistry or biology. Experience using the above-mentioned techniques would be a significant benefit. Candidate with biology background interested in working the Physics/Chemistry/biology interdisciplinary subject are strong encouraged.
