Job description: Associate Professor OR Senior Lecturer

DISCIPLINE:
Experimental Attosecond/
Atomic/Quantum Physics

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:
Continuing

AREA LOCATION:
Centre for Quantum Dynamics
Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia

SALARY RANGE:
Associate Professor A$100,081 - A$110,259 per annum; Senior Lecturer A$83,119 - A$95,843 per annum plus 17% superannuation.

Griffith University is committed to excellence in teaching and research. The University has five campuses and 35,000 students in the high growth Brisbane-Gold Coast corridor. The University has an excellent working environment and a positive culture which supports staff development and encourages innovation, diversity and creativity.

A permanent academic staff position is available in the Centre for Quantum Dynamics (CQD) at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. The appointment will be made at the Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level (C or D) and will have no teaching requirements for three years, and reduced teaching requirements for the subsequent two years.

The ideal candidate will create an experimental research group in attosecond physics and/or ultrafast high-power laser systems, building on a substantial track record in these areas. Such a candidate will receive support from the recently formed Australian Attosecond Science Facility in CQD, including substantial beamtime on the 6 fs, 0.5 mJ phase-stabilized laser system. Candidates pursuing outstanding experimental research in other areas of AMO physics, especially quantum information and ultrafast optics, will also be considered.

CQD presently has five faculty members, with research in cold atom physics using ultrafast lasers, ion trap quantum computing, quantum optics, and quantum information. Start-up funds will be available but the appointee will also be expected to seek other funding.

Women are especially encouraged to apply. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in November, but the University reserves the right to appoint by invitation.
