Job description: A PhD position is available within the theory division of the Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg. Activities of the group are concentrated on the interaction of intense laser light with few- and many-particle systems. The successful applicant is expected to work on the

development of a time-dependent density functional (Kohn-Sham) code

for the study of strong laser matter interaction, e.g., complex molecules in intense laser fields.

Interest in advanced computational methods and experience in scientific computing are prerequisites. Expertise in C++, parallel computing, many-particle quantum theory, or intense laser matter interaction are advantageous.

The successful candidate will receive his/her doctoral degree from the University of Heidelberg. Membership in the International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Dynamics in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and the Heidelberg Graduate School of Fundamental Physics is envisaged.

Applications including cover letter, CV, complete set of transcripts, references, and the diploma/master thesis or publications (as pdf-files only) should be sent until August 17, 2008 to
