Job description: The University Institute for Radiation Physics (IRA), part of the University Hospital (CHUV) and the University (UNIL) of Lausanne develops its activities in the fields of ionizing radiations in medicine and the protection of workers and the public against ionizing radiations. It collaborates with EPFL for thesis follow-ups and is looking for:

Three PhD students in medical physics

Proposed research subjects:
-- Optimization of CT-scanner pediatric and young adults protocols (within a project financed by the Swiss National Fund for Research) – ref. 245 ;
-- Modelization of the detection process in new radiation diagnostic techniques – ref. 246;
-- Optimization of doses in tomotherapy – ref. 247.

Each of these research subjects will lead to close links with clinical activities in the framework of specific courses given within the doctoral school of UNIL.

During the thesis work, the PhD students will have the possibility to obtain the professional board certification in medical physics (similar to the physicians' FMH). The PhD students will also take part in the services as well as teaching activities of the institute.

Position requirements:
-- Master in sciences;
-- Strong interest for research;
-- Nimble-mindeness, sense of collaboration, creativity, good analytical and synthesis capacities;
-- Working language: French or English.
