Job description: A PhD position is open in the group of Dr. G. Csucs (Light Microscopy Centre).
The project concentrates primarily on the establishment of Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy and Fluorescence Cross-Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS/FCCS) in living (in vivo) cellular systems (using existing instrumentation). Furthermore it includes the implementation of basic image processing algorithms allowing semi-automatic measurements and the development of statistical/mathematical methods targeting the quantitative analysis of a large number of correlation curves. The biological samples will be delivered through collaborations with various groups (especially with the group of Prof. Y. Barral) at the Institute of Biochemistry (ETH Zurich).

We are looking for an independent and ambitious student with strong mathematical (programming) skills but with an interest also in experimental work. Principal interest in biology and the readiness to interact with cell-biologists is essential. Fluency in English is required. Previous experience with FCS/FCCS is and advantage, but not necessary.
