Job description: Project: Disposable wide range all-fiber temperature sensor
Optical fiber sensing of temperature offers a range of advantages by comparison to an electrical sensing counterpart. Disposable fiber temperature sensors opens a new phase to many applications such as in the development of high quality composite structures which requires the integration of sensors into materials to measure the internal temperature while manufacturing. The main objective of this project is the development and optimization of a novel disposable fiber temperature sensor, based on a macro-bend single-mode fiber loop, which can measure a wide temperature range with high resolution. This project will investigate several issues concerning the optimization, high temperature capability and the implementation of the sensor for internal temperature measurements of advanced composite materials.
For the successful candidate, the scholarship will provide a maintenance grant of 16000 Euro per year plus all programme fees paid and funding for expenses and travel to research conferences and colloquia.
Academically strong candidates are sought who have a Masters Degree or a good primary degree in Applied Physics or Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline, with a minimum honors grade of 2-1 or higher. Candidates should also have had demonstrated exposure to optoelectronics or optical fiber communications in their degree. For further details please visit the below link,
