Job description: The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking dedicated and exceptional students looking to pursue graduate studies at the Doctoral level to apply for the Graduate Fellowship at the NanoScience Technology Center (NSTC). The NSTC serves as a resource for multidisciplinary education and training by bringing faculty from engineering, biomolecular, computer and physical science departments together at UCF. The combination of traditional didactic experiences, combined with the unique research applications of nanoscience technology, provides the student with enriched educational opportunities. The NSTC is located at the heart of the Florida High Tech corridor, and as an integral part of UCF provides access to the ever expanding market of High Technology and advanced manufacturing jobs in this region. Successful candidates will not only be part of a unique multidisciplinary research center but also receive training in cutting edge research in the field of nanoscience and nanoscience technology in a team oriented environment.
Research focal areas at the NSTC are:
*Nanomaterials Engineering and Manufacturing
*Biotechnology and Nanomedicine
*Nanoparticle Science and Technology
*Photonic Materials for Nanobioimaging and Sensing
*Nanoscale electronics, solar cells, fuel cells and hydrogen storage *Quantum phenomena in photonics and electronics
*Multiscale Simulations and Quantum Theory
Fellowship awardees will receive financial support from NSTC for a duration of four years. Strong candidates will have a GPA of 3.6/4.0, GRE score of 1300/1600 and TOEFL score of 104/120, if applicable, to qualify for the fellowships. The Graduate Fellowship stipend will be $32,000 per year for 4 years. In addition, tuition support will be provided for the duration of the fellowship. The awardees are required to be enrolled full time for the duration of the fellowship and must maintain GPA requirements as per the fellowship policy (Refer to “Full-time Enrollment Requirements” in the Financial Information Section of the Graduate Catalog for more information about university enrollment requirements). Awarded degrees will be in traditional disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Optics, Computer and Biomedical Sciences), with concentration in Nanoscience. Applications will be made through the NSTC, and applicants will indicate their discipline of choice.
