Work is presented in the following areas: the fundamental principles of self-organisation at the nanoscale; the dependence of electronic and optical properties of assemblies on spacing functionality and chemical nature of the constituent nanoparticles; magnetic nanoparticles; electronic properties of nanoparticles and superlattices; electron transfers single electron events and quantum size effects.[/color][/size]
