大量的实验结果证明,纳米粒子大小变化可引起强烈的价带谱的变化.主要表现在:
随粒子减小,(1)价带谱峰结合能位置向高能端移动,(2)价带谱宽度窄化.

The luminescence of nanocrystalline ZnO particles:
the mechanism of the ultraviolet and visible emission

Abstract
Results of steady-state luminescence measurements performed on suspensions of nanocrystalline ZnO particles of
di!erent sizes are presented. In all cases two emission bands are observed. One is an exciton emission band in the UV and
the second an intense and broad emission band in the visible, shifted by approximately 1.5 eV with respect to the
absorption onset. As the size of the particles increases, the intensity of the visible emission decreases, while that of the
exciton emission increases. In accordance with previous results, a model is presented in which the visible emission is
assigned to the radiative recombination of an electron from a level close to the conduction band edge and a deeply
trapped hole in the bulk (Vzz
O) of the ZnO particle. The size dependence of the intensity ratio of the visible to exciton
luminescence and the kinetics are explained by a model in which the photogenerated hole is transferred from the valence
band to a Vz
O level in the bulk of the particle in a two-step process. The "rst step of this process is an e$cient
surface-trapping, probably at an O2~ site.

Abstract
The emission properties of suspensions of nanocrystalline ZnO particles with di!erent particle sizes were studied. Two
emission bands were observed, one being an exciton emission and the other the visible emission of ZnO. The energy of
both emissions depends on the particle dimensions due to size quantization. A linear relationship between the energetic
maxima of the two emission bands is found. Because of the di!erence in e!ective masses of electrons and holes in ZnO,
the slope of the linear relationship clearly indicates that the visible emission is due to the transition of an electron from the
conduction band to a deep trap. The nature of the deep trap is also considered. ( 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights

一般认为(实验上的总结)大小引起的价带变化主要有:(a)峰形状的变化,如峰的分裂,(b)峰位置的移动,及其(c)峰宽度的变化。这方面早期研究较多,最近的研究比较少。但问题还很多,很好的研究方向。也是我的研究兴趣之一。
